About our Salty Seamstress
Hem & Helm didn’t start in some shiny design studio with mood boards and cappuccinos. It started on the kitchen table, with fabric scraps, a stubborn sewing machine, and a Navy mom who decided her off-duty hours were better spent stitching than scrolling. What began as a way to tame a pile of old sea bags turned into a side hustle with more grit, humor, and thread than we ever expected.
We’re not charting courses with GPS and spreadsheets — we’re steering this little ship the salty way: one bag at a time, fueled by coffee, Seahawks games, and The Office reruns in the background. Our journey isn’t polished, but neither are the deckplates. And honestly, that’s the point. These bags are built to last, stitched with stories, and made for anyone who appreciates a little humor in their carry-all.
What We Offer

Quality
Stitched to Survive, Not Just to Sit Pretty. Every bag is cut and sewn by hand, using rugged fabrics tough enough for the deckplates — and polished enough for shore leave.

Customization
Because One-Size-Fits-All is for Uniforms. From unique prints to up-cycled military textiles, every piece is made to stand out, not blend in. Your bag, your style, your story.

Sustainability
No Waste, Just New Adventures. We repurpose sea bags, uniforms, and surplus fabrics, giving them a second watch on deck — and keeping them out of the scuttle.
